Dansons! Let’s Dance!

Jeoffrey and I have promised ourselves to do more dancing from la rentrée in September (normal life in france starts again when the schools go back). Dancing often makes me smile so much that my jaw aches!

This is a ’special’ type of dancing, but it works… Watch and smile!

You might be thinking cricket here, or petanque for the Frenchies… well actually our Summer ’sport’ is Mölkky (pronounced Məlku) and it comes from Finland.

 

 Our game culture continues to grow and thanks to Jeoffrey we’ve discovered some things that we just don’t understand why we didn’t know about them before, like Mölkky which the Finnish have been keeping well hidden from us!

 The game is made up of 12 stumps of wood (abit like skittles) numbered 1-12 to represent their value and a slightly bigger cylindric stump (called the Mölkky) used to throw at the numbered stumps . The rules couldn’t be any easier: you stand 3-4 metres away from the numbered stumps and chuck the Mölkky at the numbered stumps and hope to hit something! If you make more than one stump fall, you score one point per stump, but if you manage to make just one stump fall you score the number of points marked on the stump, so precision pays! The stumps start off close together in a sort of snooker ball formation, but when one is hit and falls it gets put back up in the place where it fell meaning that the stumps generally become further apart and more chaotically organised.

We recommend having small children around when ou play as they don’t seem to get bored of running and picking up the stumps!!! Actually it’s a great inter-generational game as small children can stand closer to the stumps evening their level out with that of the adults.

The first player to reach 50 points wins, the only tricky thing being that you have to score dead on 50; if you go bust you drop back to 25 points, so that’s where it gets tactical! If you throw without hitting any stumps at all 3 consecutive times, you are eliminated.

Les Ludopathes Acte 2: Brétignoles sur mer / The Ludopathes do the Vendée

 Et voici le premier week-end jeux (7 et 8 juin 2008) organisé pour Les Ludopathes par des Ludopathes: Claire, Stéphane et Anthony pour ne pas les citer!

 The 7th and 8th June was the first games weekend organised by the Ludopathes (Claire, Stéphane and Anthony) for the Ludopathes.

 

 

 

Arrivés le samedi chez les parents de Claire, après une  bonne portion de spaghettis bolognaise et un kir breton, nous nous sommes adonnés à notre loisir préféré, à savoir les jeux de société.

 We arrived at Claire’s parents house on Saturday and after a good helping of Spaghetti Bolognese and some drinks we got our teeth into our favourite pastime, game playing.
