Au travers de ce blog j’espère juste partager avec vous un peu de mes émotions (et des vôtres!), n’hésitez pas à suggérer, dire, ou bien critiquer!

Hi, I’m Amy. I’m English, but I live in France for the time being. We hope by making this blog bilingual that we can stay in touch with both English and French cultures as well as friends, families and new aquaintances all around the world!

Salut, moi c’est Amy. Je suis anglaise mais je vis en France actuellement. En créant ce blog bilingue nous espérons rester en contact avec nos amis, notre famille et les nouvelles personnes que nous rencontrons autour du monde. C’est aussi un bon moyen de rester connecté aux deux cultures: française et anglaise.

I am hooked on surfing and I love cooking especially for Jeoffrey and our friends. We love contrast and our interests might seem like a strange mixture: knitting, yoga, board games, kite surf, spearfishing, travel…but that will hopefully make our blog an interesting read!

Je suis folle de surf et j’adore cuisiner, spécialement pour Jeoffrey et nos amis. Nous aimons les contrastes et nos centres d’intérêts peuvent vous sembler être un drôle de mélange: tricot, yoga, jeux de société, kite-surf, chasse sous marine, voyager, partager…mais cela rendra notre blog encore plus intéréssant (enfin j’espère!).

May 2008

Après seulement une dizaine de semaines passées au Château d’Olonne nous avons opté pour Nantes.
La tranquilité c’est bien, mais l’échange c’est mieux!

After just 10 weeks in Château d’Olonne in Vendée, it was clear we had to move to Nantes.
Peace and quiet is nice, but meeting people and sharing is better! 

 Nous nous y plaisons bien, Amy a déjà retrouvé une activité professionnelle et nous pratiquons de nombreux loisirs (sport, jeux de société, sorties…).

We are very happy here, it seems like destiny has played us a nice card! Amy has already found a job and thinks look promising on the career front. As usual we are keeping busy with lots of different activities (sport, board games, going out…).

February 2008:

We arrived back in Europe at the beginning of February after more than a year living and travelling in South America. We’ve come to live in Château d’Olonne (West coast of France) and plan to stay here for at least the next 6 months to see how we fit in.  It’s a quiet town for most of the year, but we feel ready for a calmer life after travelling and moving around so much over the last couple of years. 

Nous sommes de retour en europe depuis début février après plus d’un an de voyages en  amérique du sud. Nous vivons au Château d’Olonne (en vendée) et nous projetons d’y rester au moins les 6 prochains mois, histoire de voir si nous nous y plaisons. Le Château d’Olonne est une petite ville tranquille en dehors de la saison, mais nous sommes prêts pour une vie plus calme après avoir pas mal voyagé ces dernières années.

We both have ideas for developing our careers and hope they’ll be opportunities for us here or in the Vendée region. We’re happy to back by the Atlantic ocean and looking forward to getting back into our watersports; surfing, kitesurfing, spearfishing, and hopefully trying sailing.

Nous avons tous les 2 des idées pour nos carrières professionnelles et nous espérons qu’il y aura des opportunités pour nous ici en Vendée. Nous sommes heureux d’être de retour sur la côte atlantique pour entre autres nos activités nautiques telles que le surf,  le kitesurf, la chasse sous-marine et  prochainement la voile. 

 

October 2007: 

We are currently living in the North of Peru (8 hours North of Lima) in a small, beachside town called Huanchaco, 12 km from the colonial city of Trujillo. We make the most of the school holidays to visit different parts of the country and have also been to Ecuador and Bolivia. In January we’ll be going to Chile and Argentina. Living in South America has been a great experience so far, particularly in linguistic and culinary terms!

Nous vivons dans le nord du Pérou (à 8 heures de Lima) dans une petite cité balnéaire qui se nomme Huanchaco et qui est à 12km d’une ville de type coloniale Trujillo.

Nous profitons des vacances scolaires pour visiter les différentes régions de ce pays. Nous avons été en Equateur et en Bolivie. En janvier nous visiterons le Chili et l’Argentine. Vivre en Amérique du sud est une grande expérience, en particulier pour l’apprentissage de l’espagnol et la gastronomie.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Peru is a country of enormous contrasts, geographical and social ones. The latter can sometimes be difficult to accept. On the upside in Latin American cultures there is really a spirit of ‘where there’s a will, there’s a way’ and this can be seen in the building of houses as well as the transportation of materials and people! However it’s extremely frustrating to see so a nation that accepts so much inequality… Viva la revoluciòn!! 

Le Pérou est une terre de contrastes autant d’un aspect géographique que social, celui-ci est parfois difficile à accepter. Cependant le bon côté de la culture sud-américaine est que le dicton qui dit que « Où il y a une volonté, il y a un chemin » n’est pas vain ! Tous les jours nous pouvons voir des gens qui construisent leurs maisons ou qui portent des charges de 100kg sur le dos pour gagner une misère. Cependant il y a les mauvais côtés et notamment leurs profondes acceptations des inégalités… Viva la revoluciòn!!
